Ain Dubai: A Guide to the World's Largest Observation Wheel
Ain Dubai on Bluewaters Island is the world's largest and tallest observation wheel, standing at 250 metres — comfortably taller than the London Eye at 135 metres or the High Roller in Las Vegas at 167 metres. Each of its 48 capsules can hold up to 40 passengers, and the full rotation takes approximately 38 minutes, giving ample time to take in views that on clear days stretch from Burj Khalifa to the Hajar Mountains. The standard experience is an open capsule ride with shared passengers, which is excellent value for the view. Private capsule options include a dining experience, a party capsule with a bar setup, and a spa experience with a reclining chair and light therapy — all of which sound slightly improbable until you are sitting in one watching the Marina glide by below. The best time to visit is 90 minutes before sunset, which allows you to experience the view in the golden hour and then again after dark when Dubai's lights come on. Tickets should be booked in advance online, particularly for weekend sunset slots which sell out. Bluewaters Island itself is a pleasant place to spend an afternoon — the boardwalk has good restaurants, shops, and views back toward JBR and the Marina. It connects to JBR via a pedestrian bridge, making a combined visit easy.
