Dubai's Best Beaches: A Practical Guide for Visitors
Dubai's coastline stretches along the warm, calm waters of the Arabian Gulf and the beaches are a genuine highlight of the city, particularly from October to April when the temperature is perfect. The public beaches are free and well-maintained. Jumeirah Beach, also known as the Open Beach or La Mer beach area, is a wide strip of white sand with clean facilities, parking, and the famous view of Burj Al Arab rising from its artificial island in the water. Kite Beach is the most active beach in Dubai — a hub for watersports, food trucks, and cycling along the beachside path. JBR Beach, along the Jumeirah Beach Residence development, is the most urban of the public beaches with a beachside retail and dining strip called The Walk running behind it. For a more exclusive experience, the beach clubs attached to five-star hotels are remarkable. Nikki Beach, Cove Beach, and Zero Gravity offer loungers, pools, food service, and DJs at prices that reflect the experience. Day passes typically run 300 to 600 AED and are worth it for a full day. The water temperature stays warm year-round — never below 22 degrees Celsius even in winter — making swimming comfortable in any month. Watersports including jet skiing, parasailing, paddleboarding, and kayaking are available at most public and private beaches.
