Dubai Winter Activities: Making the Most of the Perfect Season
The months from October to April represent Dubai at its finest — temperatures between 18 and 30 degrees Celsius, low humidity, blue skies, and the full calendar of events that the city reserves for its best weather. If you are planning a trip and have flexibility, these are the months to come. Outdoor activities that are impossible or unpleasant in summer become the main event. Al Qudra cycling tracks, a 200-kilometre network of smooth cycling paths through the desert, are perfect in winter mornings. Hatta, the mountainous enclave belonging to Dubai about 100 kilometres to the east, offers hiking trails, mountain biking, kayaking on the Hatta Dam, and camping in the Hajar Mountains. The drive alone is beautiful. Hot air ballooning over the desert, offered by several operators, is a genuinely transformative experience at dawn — the desert floor below, the city visible in the distance, silence except for the occasional blast of the burner. Dubai Winter Festival and Global Village, the multicultural theme park with pavilions from over 90 countries, run from October to April and are family favourites. The beach is at its best — comfortable at any hour. Outdoor markets and food festivals proliferate. The Dubai World Cup horse racing season culminates in March at the Meydan Racecourse, one of the most spectacular sporting events in the calendar. Plan outdoor activities for morning and evening and you will not miss a moment of what the perfect season offers.
