Education and EdTech: Shaping the Next Generation
Teaching has always been a calling, but it’s also been a career that’s often underpaid and undervalued. However, the landscape is shifting. The rise of EdTech (Educational Technology) has opened up a whole new world for educators. I was a classroom teacher for ten years, and I loved the kids but was burnt out by the system. I transitioned to an instructional designer role for a company that creates online learning platforms. Now, I use my teaching skills to create curriculum for thousands of students, not just my 30. There’s a massive need for educational content creators, curriculum developers, and remote tutors. Even within traditional schools, there’s a growing need for specialists in special education and STEM. If you have a passion for helping others learn, don’t limit yourself to the traditional classroom. Look at corporate training roles, online schools, or educational nonprofits. The skills you have as an educator are incredibly valuable in a world that is constantly needing to upskill its workforce.
