Google's AI Overviews Are Giving Dangerous Advice and They Do Not Care

Google AI Overviews
In 2024, Google launched AI Overviews. When you search, an AI writes a summary at the top. Sometimes that summary is wrong. Sometimes it is dangerous. The AI told someone to eat rocks for nutrition. It said to put glue on pizza.

Google fixed those specific examples. But the underlying problem remains. AI hallucinates. It makes things up confidently. Google knows this. They launched anyway because competitors like ChatGPT are taking market share.

For beginners, do not trust AI Overviews. Scroll past them. Look at actual sources. The AI is useful for simple facts like weather or sports scores. For anything important, verify. Google is prioritizing speed over accuracy. That is a choice. You do not have to accept it.
