Legal Jobs in Dubai: Working in the Gulf's Legal Capital

Law office in DIFC Dubai
Legal Jobs Dubai Guide
Dubai's legal market is centred predominantly on DIFC, where the English common law courts have created an environment in which international law firms can practise on familiar ground. Major global firms including Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, Freshfields, Linklaters, Dentons, Baker McKenzie, and White & Case all have Dubai offices and collectively employ significant numbers of qualified lawyers from common law jurisdictions. The work profile is weighted toward commercial law — projects and infrastructure, mergers and acquisitions, financial regulation, funds work, arbitration, and increasingly technology and data. Contentious work, including arbitration at the DIAC or DIFC arbitration centre, has grown substantially as the region's deal volume has increased the need for efficient commercial dispute resolution. For UK-qualified solicitors and barristers, DIFC allows practice without requalification, which is a significant advantage over mainland UAE where foreign lawyers typically need to work under the supervision of UAE-licensed advocates. Outside DIFC, law firms practising UAE law need locally licensed Emirati advocates as partners. In-house legal roles are available across large corporates, real estate developers, banks, and government-related entities. Legal counsel and general counsel roles at senior levels earn competitive packages — 35,000 to 60,000 AED and above for senior GC roles at major organisations. The quality of work, tax-free income, and lifestyle are the primary draws for international legal talent.
