Monitoring with Cloud Operations: From Panic to Peace
I used to find out my app was down when users emailed me. Hours of downtime. Angry customers. Panicked debugging. Then I set up Cloud Operations (formerly Stackdriver). Now I have dashboards showing my Cloud Run latency, error rates, and request counts. I have uptime checks that hit my endpoints every minute from multiple locations. I have alerting policies that text me if error rates exceed 1% for five minutes. Last month, my database connection pool started leaking. I got an alert at 2 AM. I fixed it in 10 minutes. Users never noticed. Cloud Operations turned me from a reactive firefighter into a proactive engineer. If you don't have monitoring set up, you're flying blind. It takes an afternoon to configure. It's worth every minute.
