My Grandpa Used AI to Write His Memoir. I Cried Anyway.

My grandfather is 84. His hands shake. Typing is hard. But he has stories. The war. Falling in love. Losing his brother. He tried to write them down for years. Nothing stuck. Then my cousin introduced him to a simple AI tool. You speak into it. The AI writes sentences. You fix what you don't like. Six months later, we had a 120-page book. Here's the thing I didn't expect. I cried reading it. Not because the prose was beautiful. Some parts were clunky. The AI clearly filled gaps with guesswork. But the voice? That was still him. His jokes. His silences. The way he describes my grandmother's cooking. AI didn't write the memoir. It just held the pen. I think that's okay. Maybe even beautiful. Tools don't steal humanity. They just make room for more of it.
