Why So Many Americans Are Quitting the 9-to-5 for Good
If you haven't noticed, the American workforce is going through something weird right now. People aren't just switching jobs—they're walking away from the entire traditional work model. I talked to a former teacher from Ohio who now runs a small pressure-washing business. He said he makes less money but feels ten times happier. That's the vibe across the country right now. Young folks and even mid-career professionals are trading office desks for freelance gigs, side hustles, or moving to cheaper states where their dollar stretches further. Some call it lazy. I call it smart. Why grind 50 hours a week for a boss who doesn't know your name when you can build something on your own? Of course, it's not all roses. Health insurance is a nightmare when you're self-employed. But the pandemic showed people that life is short, and honestly? A lot of us aren't willing to pretend anymore that sitting in traffic for two hours a day is a noble sacrifice. Expect this trend to keep growing.
