Auto Scaling: Growing and Shrinking on Demand
Auto Scaling automatically adjusts your compute capacity to maintain steady performance at the lowest cost. I remember manually adding instances during traffic spikes before discovering this. Now, you define scaling policies based on metrics like CPU utilization. If traffic increases, Auto Scaling launches new instances. When traffic drops, it terminates unused ones. You also define minimum and maximum instance counts. Combined with Elastic Load Balancing, you get an application that handles traffic gracefully. It's one of those AWS services that makes you feel like you're operating at enterprise scale, even as a beginner.
