AWS Cost Management: Avoiding Bill Shock

AWS cost management and budgeting
AWS Cost Management Tips
The number one fear for AWS beginners is getting an unexpectedly high bill. I've been there. The key is understanding that AWS charges for what you use, and it adds up. Start with the AWS Free Tier, but be careful with services that have always-free components versus those that are free for 12 months. Use AWS Budgets to set alerts. I set a budget of $10 and get an email if I exceed 50% and 100%. The Cost Explorer is a fantastic tool that visualizes your spending by service. Also, get into the habit of terminating resources you're not using. An EC2 instance left running costs money even if you're not using it. Control your costs, and you'll enjoy the cloud without anxiety.
