Sales Careers
When I say I’m in sales, people often wrinkle their nose. They imagine a used car salesman. But the reality is, sales is one of the most rewarding and essential careers out there. I’m a B2B (business-to-business) sales representative for a software company. My job is to solve problems for clients. If you’re a good salesperson, you’re a consultant. The earning potential is uncapped, which is a huge motivator. But it’s not just about the money. It’s about building relationships and helping businesses grow. The skills you learn in sales—communication, resilience, negotiation—are valuable in any career. There’s always a demand for good salespeople because, without them, companies don’t grow. If you’re a people person, thick-skinned, and competitive, look into sales development representative (SDR) roles to get your foot in the door. It can be a grind at the beginning, but it pays off big time.
