The Incredible Hulk (2008): The Often Forgotten MCU Entry

The Incredible Hulk Review
The Incredible Hulk is the black sheep of the MCU—often overlooked but worthy of reassessment. Directed by Louis Leterrier, this film stars Edward Norton as Bruce Banner, a scientist on the run from the military while searching for a cure to his gamma radiation condition. Unlike the later portrayal by Mark Ruffalo, Norton's Banner is haunted, brooding, and desperate. The film's action sequences are underrated, particularly the campus chase scene and the climactic battle against Tim Roth's Emil Blonsky (the Abomination). William Hurt delivers a strong performance as General Ross. While the film has a different tone from the rest of the MCU, it established key elements: Banner's origin, his relationship with Betty Ross (Liv Tyler), and the character's struggle for control. The film ends with Tony Stark recruiting Banner, solidifying its place in the universe. The Incredible Hulk is available on Disney+ Hotstar. For free viewing, some mobile and broadband plans include Disney+ subscriptions. The film is also available for rental on major digital platforms. While it's the least-watched MCU film, it's worth revisiting to understand Hulk's early journey before the character's tonal shift in The Avengers.
