The One Political Habit I Quit (And What I Do Instead)
I used to check Twitter every morning. Scrolling through hot takes, outrage, and people yelling at strangers. It made me anxious and cynical. So I quit cold turkey. No political social media for three months. At first, I felt out of the loop. Then I noticed something weird: nothing in my actual life changed. My trash still got picked up. My job was fine. The world didn't end because I missed a viral thread. Now I read two long-form articles a week instead. One from the left. One from the right. I write down one thing I learned from each. That's it. I'm less angry and more confused – but confusion is honest. America's politics is messy. Don't let an algorithm convince you it's simple.
