As the volume of data generated by IoT devices explodes, cloud computing alone is no longer sufficient to handle the latency and bandwidth demands. The rollout of 5G networks is a critical enabler, providing the high-speed, low-latency connectivity needed to link edge devices. We are seeing edge nodes being deployed in smart cities to process traffic data instantly, and in healthcare to analyze patient data at the bedside. As AI models become more efficient, they are being deployed directly on edge devices, creating a new class of intelligent, autonomous systems that can operate independently of the cloud.
