Google handles over 90 percent of searches worldwide. That is not a market share. That is a monopoly. Regulators in the US and Europe are suing Google. They say Google pays Apple billions to be the default search engine on iPhones. They say Google rigs search results to favor their own products.
Is that true? Yes and no. Google's search is genuinely better than Bing or DuckDuckGo for most queries. But when you search for hotels, Google shows Google Hotels first. When you search for flights, Google Flights appears above others. That is unfair to competitors.
Yet users do not seem to care. They just want answers. Fast. Google provides them. The EU fined Google billions already. Google paid the fines and kept going. For beginners, this is a lesson in power. Once you become the verb for something, it is almost impossible to lose. People do not say "I'll bing it." They say "I'll google it." That verb is worth more than any fine.
