Outlook 2030: Will India Be a Superpower?
Everyone loves to ask: will India become a superpower? It’s a catchy headline. But if you look at the geopolitical trajectory, ‘superpower’ might be the wrong word. The age of single superpowers is over. What India is aiming for is a ‘leading power’—a Vishwaguru. We have the demographics (young population), the market (5 trillion economy goal), and the military (nuclear triad). But the bottlenecks are internal. Can we fix our education system to create a skilled workforce? Can we ease the business environment to attract the manufacturing shifting out of China? Geopolitical ambition is useless without domestic strength. The next 5-10 years will determine if we are just a ‘big country with potential’ or if we actually deliver. Right now, the world is betting on India. The question is whether we can meet those expectations.
